TRUNK DRAIN TD -2 & TD -5, DWARKA

TD-2 Drain and TD-5 Drain in Dwarka have approximate lengths of 5.2 km and 3.8 km respectively. The project will intercept all the sewerage outfalls along the Drain, the polluted water will undergo Tertiary Treatment at the STP’s on Site and further the treated water will be discharged in the Drains. In addition, Bioremediation technology and polishing ponds have been developed at each drain to further improve the quality of water. Apart from improving the quality of water and capacity augmentation, the rejuvenation project aims to develop recreational and interactive public open spaces along these water channels. The dedicated cycle tracks and walkway corridors serve as a feeder network for the nearby metro stations. The project targets energy generation to offset the energy requirement of the landscape parks, lighting etc. through dedicated solar power generation of to meet most of the power demand of the developed landscape and recreational areas. The novelty of the approach is to overcome the problems that affect urban waterfronts and strategically design the urban spaces to avoid any tree transplantation and protect the existing vegetation on site and integrate the public activities around them. Some of the proposed elements are walkways, cycle tracks, open air theatre, pedestrian bridges, avenues, open air food courts, koisks etc
