Today, DDA is playing a multi-faceted role which includes development of land, making houses, developing parks and green areas, constructing flyovers, building sports centers and amusement parks, constructing shopping and office complexes etc.

Engineering wing of DDA is responsible for all the construction & development activities listed above. The engineering wing headed by Engineer Member DDA is divided into 7 zones. Chief Engineer is the executive head of each zone. He is further assisted by Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers & Junior Engineers.

The construction work is mainly executed through the system of the contracts where the contractor is primarily responsible for the execution of works strictly in accordance with the approved drawings, specifications and contract conditions.
